Here with Miss Maite Uy, Group publisher of One Mega and my Ate Cel (Maricel Laxa-Pangilinan) the Editor-in-Chief of Celebrity Mom Magazine

It was a hot sunny afternoon of fun at the Palms Country Club. H&M and Celebrity Mom invited us to a swimming party. The pool was really appealing with all the huge inflatables waiting for the kids to enjoy them. Food was really good and overflowing.

There were so many activities for the kids to do– aside from swimming, they got to paint, play on the big inflata-ball, temporary tattoo painting, parlor games and photo booth, and Gforce’s teacher Myka was there to teach the kids basic dance step (yes! the Gforce way!)… Truly worth the travel from San Juan for my kids and the kid at heart– that’s me 😍

I often get invited to events but I rarely ever attend because one, I may be in showbiz but I am the shy type, never wanting to go alone and scared of feeling out of place.. two, I always want to look good so going to an event means spending for a nice dress  (so yes, we went to PATTY ANG a week before to order my dress and Eia’s Harrow top)and putting on make up.  I do not have a glam team like other actors.  I do my own mak e up and hair, sometimes, my Personal Assistant, now Eia’s nanny, Marilou, does my hair.

Lately, I have been getting invitations and since Eia is old enough (at 4) to appreciate and enjoy with me, I decided to bring her along in the MAC FLAMINGO PARK event. True enough, she had so much fun as if she was the one who got invited and I just tagged along with her.

The whole place was an eye candy, one big fun play park… a fantasy land full of beautiful things and people where the food was too cute to eat…and It was all about PINK!.. now, my favorite color of course influenced by you know who..One could imagine having it for a bedroom.  People were all friendly and it was nice to see some familiar faces.

Eia enjoyed having a make over..I got “inggit” and opted to sit down and have them fix my make up instead of eating and drinking…

After an hour or so, my little one got tired and so hungry we had to leave the event but she was delighted to see the loot bag they gave her (we all know it was for me 🙂 )

It was truly a fun experience for me and my little one.  Will definitely visit MAC store real soon to grab  SILLY ME, PLEASE ME, SUCH SWEETIE CREME SHEEN GLASS,  PEARL BLOSSOM BLUSH and the list goes on 🙂

Vday at SG

Our Flight to Manila from Hongkong was delayed for three hours. While waiting and watching my favorite Tagalog series, my hubby tells me we have a flight to catch at 10 in the morning. Arriving Manila at 4am, we immediately packed for Singapore and left the house at 630am so the driver can do errands after.

The Singapore trip was a surprise valentine’s day gift. We have not really celebrated the occassion in a grand way for a few years now as it is just few days apart from my birthday. So emphasis was almost always on my birthday. The last grand celebration was 2012 when he brought me to New York.

It was a short and sweet vacation at Ritz Carlton on Raffles Avenue, a 2 minute walk from Marina Bay Sands. First stop after settling was Pizzeria Mozza. Our family’s favorite. Excited to have my favorite Nancy’s chopped salad. We tried for the first time the Arancine alla Bolognese and prosciutto pizza.

Dinner was at Long Chim, still in Marina Bag Sands. Chris wanted to eat chinese food but we ended up trying this Thai resto.  The food was good. I ordered the not so spicy ones.image image image

Celebrating Valentine’s Day or any important occassion is mandatory. Doesn’t have to be extravagant but couples should always have “alone” time.. Your kids may miss you nor they may not understand but they feel secure knowing the parents have strong foundation.

Brush Calligraphy Birthday Party

Decorating Cafe Lima for someone else’s event or birthday was always easy until it was time to fix it for my own party. Thank God the one and only Badang Rueda ( one of the most soughtafter eventstylist in the country) is just always a text away. He just turned the venue into a breathtaking sight, I got so pressured to wear something really nice to match my theme. Happy I got the great and talented Anina Rubio to teach us Brush Calligraphy. Almost all invited friends came. Tableware from the very generous @allinthebag_ph

Sharing with you some photos of the beautiful set up Badang did! (Join his workshop on February 22, 4pm at Cafe Lima)

Golf themed party for the HUBBY

This year I decided that starting this year, we all shall celebrate our birthdays as our way of giving thanks to the Lord for another year of life.  I planned a surprise intimate dinner for Chris which later on did not turn out to be a surprise simply because it’s hard to surprise someone who is always with you 😍 Invited a few close friends and cooked for the hubby and the guests!  It was a golf themed party!

To the tower of our strength, our hero, our protector, our guiding light, our human seatbelt, shoulder to cry on, bestfriend, life navigator, the best critic, the number #1 fan, our blanket, life coach, doctor love, support system, our biggest blessing (i could go on and on) thank you for the love so selfless and unconditional. Thank you for being our family’s everything. You are the most important piece in our puzzle. Happy bday Mahal. May God always bless you with good health. We love you, most gentle Giant! I love you so much Hon! @chrisdtan

My Birthday Trip

Since we opened Cafe Lima and Kuya Pao (RYLE) got busy with work, we found it hard to take even a short vacation out of town or out of the country. As much as possible we do not want to leave Kuya behind just cause he is already working.  Fortunately, SHOWTIME is kind enough to lend him to us for 5 days.  I must say, I valued this trip more maybe because of the thought the we borrowed Kuya’s time from work so we cann all travel again together.

When in Hongkong, our first stop is always the fast food across CitySuper in Harbour City. Our favorite was NAN JING but since they renovated they moved to another mall but there is now a chinese fast food that is almost similar so that’s where we always go to eat first thing after arriving in the hotel.

Since we are with the kids and they get hungry all the time, doing the grocery is a must in CitySuper.  Cup noodles, sliced bread, nutella, ham, cheese, orange juice and yes, chips!

Another must for us is the japanese restaurant GYU JIN in Isquare located in Nathan Road, Tsim Sha Tsui.  It’s an eat all you can shabu shabu in 60 minutes.

We also found a good Ramen place in the same mall,  please check the photos, name is written in japanese 🙂

We love Mortons too but last minute, we opted to eat some place else the night of my birthday.

Of course, we cannot not visit the happiest place on earth when with Eia.  Now that she is older, we loved how she appreciated everything she saw and did in Disneyland.  We had to stay until she said she had enough and okay to go back to the hotel.

Pizza Express, is another family’s favorite! So we visited the one in Ocean Terminal and at the airport on our way back home.  Wish someone can bring it to Manila. Lovely to see Filipino kababayans! Always friendly!

If you are a member of the TANFAM, prepare to walk endlessly when out of the country.  Glad Eia has adjusted to us easily.  No stroller, even during the last time we went there.  And the kuyas were always helpful.  Super love travelling with them, they’re not just our kids, they are our barkadas, soooo much fun to be with them.  Walking, doing a lot of crazy stuff, cracking jokes… what’s nice too is that they do not ask you directly to buy them stuff.. and are very appreciative.

Sharing with you some of our photos!  This trip was one of the best ones! Happy to have celebrated my birthday with the people who matter most, blessed to be on a vacation with them.

I am 41…

image

My mind is full of wisdom of 41 years of lessons about life..and yes! There is still so much more to learn.. Thankful for experiences, good and bad! You only benefit from them. As a mother, you know you love your children so much but you will really never realize the depth until you are put in a situation wherein your love for them will be measured and you get to do things you never even thought you can do… Test of your strength and tenacity at the same time acceptance and understanding.. You get to experience the different levels of your children’s heartaches in double dosage.. As a wife, you know you are blessed when you get the love, trust and respect.. despite your imperfection.. You are accepted and valued.. And most of all appreciated!..

As a daughter, you realize your shortcomings and all the heartaches you have given ur parents growing up (and thankful that your children are way better versions of you) and try your best to let them know you love them even just by communicating with them more often.. As a friend, you know you are loving but its better not to care too much most of the time. Doesnt mean you are a bad friend but they will come to you when they need you and that’s when you do your part. Know where the line is drawn. You still can care for friends who are not present in your life now and the best you can do is pray for them and wish them well. You do not need to remember them everyday. But they will always have a spot in your heart.

As a sibling, in my case, the eldest, show more concern and be more present.. Communication is always good and healthy!.. Be active in the group chat, making fun of each other.. Laughing together is a good way to bond with them… As a person, it’s never too late to learn anything new. Do not stop growing but in the process, do not forget the people that matter. Choose your battles. Letting go of an issue ( if it will be for the better) rather than dealing with it or fighting about it is a sign of maturity and not weakness…. It is better to just be silent than say something and be misinterpreted.. Be real like you have always been and appreciate real people.. It is good to think positive of other people but being doubtful also and not too trusting will often save you from something terrible that could happen.. Your intention to make other people happy is good but make sure it also makes you happy… Forgive and forget because it’s for your own peace of mind. It’s okay to not be with people you don’t like even if you have to…. Some people will try to destroy you and you cannot go around defending yourself to other people so it’s enough that God knows what’s in your heart.. You only have you conscience as your gauge and God as your judge! No one else!

Life is short, kids grow up fast, spend as much time with them especially when they want to be with you, soon they will have their own lives and so take advantage of the time that they are still under your control and Raise them in such a way that they will enjoy every moment and long to be with you as they grow up… Be a cool parent.. Your kids may be young and they may go through some things you will laugh at but hey, remember for them it’s something serious. Acknowledge the feeling!!!..

Life is short, work hard but enjoy hard as well! Continue creating beautiful memories with your best half! Always be interested… Be his cheerleader.. Always appreciate him and being married does not mean you cannot act like boyfriend and girlfriend.. Say I love you everytime u have the chance..

THANK YOU VERY MUCH EVERYONE who greeted me on my birthday. Thank you for blessing me with the gift of friendship! For those I may have neglected or offended in any way, I am sorry! I am not perfect.. To those who have wronged me, you have long been forgiven! Lord God, as Eia always says, You are watching!.. Thank you very much for this beautiful life that I do not deserve. To friends I call family, thank you! Thank you for always being there.. For everything… From the littlest thing!

To my husband CHRIS, our kids, PAO, LO and EIA, You gave my life a different purpose and meaning! I love you so much… You are my Life! Honey, I am not the best wife but you love me and treat me like I am! Thank you for loving me and accepting my shortcomings. My babies, thank you for being the obedient (most of the time) kids that you are. You are the best gifts that God has ever given me and dad! My life is beyond beautiful because of the four of you!!!! I always pray for God to bless the love that binds our family.. To keep it always strong! I love you mga mahal ko, I wonder how many times I tell you guys in a day 😍

Mother’s Heart

I was not the best daughter growing up. Gave my mom so much problems. I did not understand why I did not listen. They never failed to give pieces of advise, share words of wisdom, somehow I just made my life complicated. I did not live my childhood to the fullest simply because I was stubborn.. You know you will never regret things you did ( to your parents) in the past until its your turn to feel it..

I am blessed with wonderful children. I must say none of them are as mischievous as I was growing up. Of course they are not perfect, there are times when they get into trouble for their mistakes. But we never fail to explain things and make them understand that the reason why they get reprimanded or punished is because they are loved and we want them to learn from their mistakes and hopefully refrain from doing it again.

Different age, different stage– but same amount of heartache for us mothers.. Whether its your youngest crying because you have to leave her for a short trip or your other child whose pet died or your oldest child who just got out of a relationship… Different causes, different pain, mothers feel twice as much! If you could only shield them from whatever will break their hearts!

But the greatest heartache for me is knowing that one day, I shall have to let them go.. Allow them to see the world on their own..with God but without me and their dad.. Makes me admire how my mom endure all the pain especially when it was time for me to spread my wings..

To my children, I will always be here for you! No matter what! I will always love you! If you need me, anytime of the day, whether or not we’re okay.. Mama will always be there for you, with dad!!!!

(Sharing with you the poem that lead me to blog tonight. How wonderful (at certain point also painful) it is to be a mother..)image
